Saki 15 – The calm before the storm
nekosasu | July 21, 2009 | 2:56 amWell, as the title says, this episode was relatively quiet. Touka gets her hind kicked and Momo’s stealth is ineffective against Nodocchi’s radar, bottom line: our girls are in the lead before the fifth and last game; the storm.
The latter part of this episode followed standard suspense building procedures. Saki’s incredible gameplay is showcased right off the bat, all the teams cower in fear before her, and it looks like she’s going to net an easy win off this match, even though Yumi-chin prevented that rinshan kaihou hat trick. But of course, we all know that there is someone who hasn’t acted once in this match yet, and who will definitely be depicted as an evil monster beyond recognition, akin to Umineko’s Maria. And that’s something to look forward to, because apparently Kodomo Koromo is that good at Mahjong. (But will definitely get her ass stomped in the end nevertheless.)
By the way, she’s 16 years old? One year older and even more underdeveloped than Taco-cchi (who is already flat as a taco pancake)? Oh, come on. This is getting ridiculous.
Oh and there was a new OP and ED in this episode, although both are much inferior to the old ones. The OP features off-tune singing from beginning til end, and the ED song is utterly disappointing: it lost all originality the first one had and sounds pretty bad.[1]
Keeping it short because ep 16 is already underway, but relatively slow. Will watch it after my obligatory beauty sleep.
Notes- Reminds me of Minami-ke Okaeri OP which is also a shitty encore of the great OP of the first series. [↩]

LOOOOL A normal hikkikomori XD
Know what’s funny… why the hell does Koromo have to be 16… makes no sense. We have Nagi in Combat Bulter, 13, in high school… perfectly acceptable for bright kids to leap frog.
better example… Chiyo-chan XD
You probably know, I’m going to wait for 17… which might not do any justice for the milking which may span 4-5 episodes… DAMMIT! (I feel forsaken by seasonal gods)
Must…catch…up…
