Xmas, and more Super Butter Dog
nekosasu | December 26, 2008 | 10:44 amWell, after a looooong day of idleness and a looooong night of pangya, I think that I should follow suit to allllllllllllll the numerous fag- anibloggers out there and wish everyone a fuckin’ great christmas, although we’re on Boxing Day already. Aw, belated wishes are fine too.
Presents? I got a bottle of Baileys, some lottery scratch tickets and some cash. At least they know I like Baileys, heh! The proportion is astounding: every guest has had presents, ie. one. Yeah, my town is pretty much dead, friends are all in holidays or away or something, and mum was working all day, so it was a pretty ronery xmas. At least there are enough great ppl online, especially my GGS guild mates from pangya. And yes, christmas is definitely underrated ^^
What kind of presents did you get? Ah wait, I don’t give a damn, unless it’s ARIA-related. :D
Up next, new year’s… Heh, more champagne will flow! Fireworks are too expensive, but it’s always fun to see those facetious capitalists in the hood literally burn their money away for shits and giggles.
But as you can guess (read the post title, doofus) I didn’t post only to wish you half-dozen a merry xmas, but look here:
More after the jump.
If you don’t know Super Butter Dog yet, I’d suggest you read this post first. It’s funky awesomeness.
I really like shopping at CDJapan, because not only do they often give out free coupons, but they also give points for shopping, which you can use to deduct some more yen from another purchase.
I had ordered another couple of CDs of Super Butter Dog, exactly because I had almost 1k yen off the order (plus, these are cheap re-releases so yah). That’s a bargain in my book.
And! They even included a note in the package!
So, it’s three CDs of SBD: 333 Goshitsu, Freeway and Hello! Feed☆Back.
Let’s start with 333 Goshitsu (actually, 333号室 but you can’t read Kanji, period.)
Perhaps the one of the three albums I like the least, although it is still a great album. There aren’t really any catchy tunes, but there are plenty of slow-paced songs to chill and relax to. Sometimes it even reminds me of reggae (I supposedly don’t know reggae, that’s why. could even say it sounds like <random> metal but I dunno, lol ¯\(°_o)/¯), but this is still funk allright. I think the songs that I like most are ネムリフカク, 天気予報 and そら見たことか. (Shit, can you read Kanji? Wait you can’t, aww.)
I would show you a PV or a youtube link, but it seems there isn’t any for these songs. Plus, I am too lazy to remember my nico password and search. But you might always search it yourself, genius! :D
Either way, if you are getting a SBD CD, 333 Goshitsu shouldn’t be the first one.
Next comes Freeway.
Super Butter Dog’s first album, and a very good one at that. It’s quite grungier than their future works, but doesn’t fall short of funkiness either. It has got quite a few great songs like メロディーの毛布にくるまって and ライリライリムーン, the first of which I had already known from ラ (Ra(ibu), their live album). It’s quite an earworm, and I wub it soooo very much. Srsly.
Once again, nothing on youtube. I even managed to log into nicovideo, but even there you can’t find メロディーの毛布にくるまって. Darn.
Get this album, it’ll make you happy.
And finally, Hello! Feed☆Back. Note the cute star!
Romanji in the re-released version (apparently these are remastered too, heh), but the original CD from 1999 is still called ハロー!フィード☆バック. After Funkasy, the album I like the best – it’s fresh, it’s funky, it’s FABULOUS!
Okay, I knew many songs beforehand from their ラ album, but even if I didn’t, I would still like those songs. Some are pretty funny, like Yo!兄弟 (Imouto ni KICK! Otouto ni KICK! Obocchi ni KICK!), マッケンLo (reminds you of McEnroe? Yep, it’s about tennis. And it’s crazy, of course :D), others are more down-to-earth, like アサガオ記念日 or 5秒前の午後 which is a very great tune in my opinion.
Nothing beats the live versions of those songs though. :D
Couldn’t find anything for these songs either, heh… SBD is that unpopular? No wai. Browsing youtube I saw an artist sing and play Yo!兄弟 on his guitar!
Sounds better with all the other instruments, but this is already awesome. Kudos to this guy.
For マッケンLo, I only found stuff on nicovideo, here goes:
Ahh, I suppose that’s all for now. I don’t know if I made you want to try out Super Butter Dog, but if you do, make sure to get the ラ live album. And if buying 3-4 CDs is too much for you, then get either Super Better Dog and/or Super Better Better Dog, those are their Best-of compilations, somewhat. K, have a great week.

Oho, Super Butter Dog. Haven’t heard them, wish they had more samples on lastfm. Sound funky rockish. ^^
May I ask a question about CDjapan,
does it have good shipping, like is it fast or slow? Cause I’m thinking of getting a subscription of a magazine from them and would like to know what their like before doing so, thanks =D
@Maura: CDJapan are very fast, the CDs arrived exactly one week after they were released. And I live in Europe; orders from other pages usually take around two weeks. I’m really happy with CDJapan, and I’m sure this wasn’t the last time I ordered from them :D
