To Aru Majutsu no Index Episode 3

nekosasu | October 19, 2008 | 12:15 am
Komoe has a PlayStation 2!
Komoe has a PlayStation 2 memory card!

Komoelicious episode full of yawn.

This episode had everything I wanted: Komoe, Index and more of both! KoMOE and IndexMOE!!! Damn, that didn’t work.

However, despite the premonition of the last episode, there was no action in this episode AT ALL. It’s progressing in an unexpectedly slow pace.

tl;dr summary + comments + images: show

So, after Touma leaves Komoe’s apartment, “Index” (or the automatic self recovery spell) tells Komoe how to proceed with the magic performance. She draws a pentagram with her blood on the table, while Komoe gathers every kind of stuff to place on it – the goal is to display everything in the room (including Komoe and Index) in a miniaturized and simplified way. The explanation is that in order to perform magic, the field must be properly marked out first.

What I didn’t expect was to hear Index sing during the incantation – why, I can’t hear singing in the manga… figures. But even Komoe sings a little! (A bit out of tune, though.) Awwwwww………
Finally, Komoe is asked to imagine a beautiful angel. She will not summon a real angel though, but with that she will focus her mana towards the healing spell. And with this Index is safe. For now…

In the morning, Touma has to explain to Komoe-sensei who Index is, and of course he passes her off as his younger sister (Take THAT, Mei!). Nobody would actually believe him, but guess what, Komoe does! Being the adult she is, she preaches about taking care of children being the responsibility of adults… and so she decides to keep Index in her apartment for the while. And so the three of them live together for a couple of days.

Komoe goes shopping, and Touma and Index have a long discussion. Index reveals the identity of the organization that is behind her: Necessarius. Since she doesn’t recall anything before waking up in the city a couple of days ago, she herself doesn’t know the real reason they are after her, save for the 103000 books that are stored in her memory. Touma reproaches her with keeping that little bit of information to herself, but Index rebutts with him not going to school and bites him all over. …Lucky guy. I really wouldn’t mind being bitten by Index (or Komoe… XD).

Both of them are being observed by the mage who attacked Index the other day, Style, and his helper, Kanzaki Kaori.

They discuss about Touma’s lack of psychic and magic powers, which makes them wonder about how he was able to defeat Style’s “Innocentus” spell. Kaori keeps wondering how much longer they have to destroy Index’s happiness… Especially since she had been in Touma’s position long time ago. Danger is imminent…

One evening, both Index and Touma get in a discussion on their way to the public bathhouse, so much that Index bites Touma in the arm and runs off on her own. Suddenly, Touma finds himself all alone on an usually busy street… It’s magic. Yep, it’s finally time for some action: Kaori appears! But it’s already the end of the episode, WHAT!?!

I really don’t need to say what I think of this episode, do I? Wait, I DO. *takes a deep breath*

KoMOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ~ad nauseum~ *yawns*

Lots of moe, veeeery lots of talking, and no action at all. Not that I mind, Komoe compensates for even the most boring moments of this anime. Besides, I already knew what was ahead so I’m not going to put on the “ranting disappointed prick” act now. But there can’t be enough action for some people, right? Sigh…

Either way, Index too gained quite a few points with me today. Just look how cute she looks in Komoe’s clothes! Kyaaaa~ (≧∀≦) She also says it feels pretty tight around the chest, LOL! BRB, nosebleeding

Damn. I really am glad that I could have so much Komoe now, because I can imagine she will not appear much in the next couple of episodes… And after episode 5, perhaps not anymore for a long time. DON’T DO THAT, PLEASE! I’m going to die without her bad singing, her can of beers and her cigarettes… …meh. (And yet I always wonder, how the hell can she be an adult? She’s so lolilicious!)

Good thing I don’t watch Clannad. Because, as far as I can see in IRC and on various blogs, Mei causes a lot of people to become outright stupid for moe… Even more than me for Komoe. (Okay, they are always pretty stupid in #animeblogger but this is pretty extreme.)
BUT DO NOT FRET, KOMOE! I shall not abandon you for that loli imouto. For your sake, Key/KyoAni shall be forsaken and left to all those mindless imouto-keis and lolikons… I’m proud to be such a hypocrit. Fiiiine fine, I don’t watch it because I didn’t watch the first series. THERE, ARE YOU HAPPY? ;A;

This is.... perfect.
This is…. perfect. PERFECT! *dies*

ANYWAY. As I said in the beginning, it is quite a slow pace. Three episodes, and only six chapters covered. Especially this episode looked a bit like a drag… At this rate, I can very well imagine that To Aru Majutsu no Index is going to be 26 episodes long… if not longer. I only read ten chapters of the manga so far, but the story promises to be huge in my opinion. Who knows, perhaps they might fill in some Railgun chapters?

The preview looks really promising. I’m eager to see the fight between Kaori and Touma. It was pretty awesome in the manga, and so far, the animation in the anime hasn’t failed me at all – so I’m in for some great visuals next week.
