A train… err, a pigeon can hide another one.

Finally got some free time on my hands today, so I can briefly talk about Ep 10 and do an update on the Baccano timeline as well. I already had watched this episode two weeks ago, so there wasn’t really a surprise for me now, but still: seems like something is coming about soon!

1931, in a prison in Newfoundland: Senator Beriam pays a visit to the prisoner Huey Laforet. If you remember well, the Lemures are taking Beriam’s wife and daughter hostages on board of the Flying Pussyfoot, and blackmail the Senator to free Laforet. Beriam wants him to convince the Lemures to free his family, but Huey already confirms that their plan is bound to fail because he knowis that his own daughter, Chane Laforet, is with the Lemures.
At the same moment, Chane exits the car of the Lemures and climbs on top of the roof. Brr… must be cold. At least if they had been doing that here around this time of the year… it’s so freaking cold, I barely can feel the tips of my fingers anymore x_x Well anyway, back to Baccano.

We pick up from the scene where Czeslaw asks Ladd to kill all the people in the dining car, for the only reason that he has business to do with one of the corpses. What he does not tell Ladd is that he is in search of an Immortal like him. In the dining car, Czeslaw said his real name, which proved that there had to be an Immortal in the same car – if Ladd kills them all, the Immortal might be uncovered. Ladd, irritated by the boy’s confidence, shoots him twice in the head and leaves. Obviously, Czes revives and tries to find other means to get close to the Immortal.
Claire… ugh, what a shitty name (I think I’ll stick to Rail Tracer or so, sounds better), well he saw all of this, and even cold-blooded killers can be surprised once in a while.

Let’s get it started!

A challenger appears!

Back to the Runoratas, where Gustavo finds out that Eve has escaped. He immediately blames the Gandors and dashes out. Eve, on her side, is taken into safety with Elean. As he tells Eve that her brother Dallas is dealing with the Gandors, she immediately wants to go to them to ask them about Dallas’ whereabouts.

After parting with Ennis, Isaac and Miria concoct a plan to relieve the Gandors and the Runoratas from their money. The decide to strike the Gandors first “since it’s closer”. They encounter Dallas Genoard once again, who recuperated the two boxes containing the Cure-All elixir from the Gandor’s place. Our chaotic duo believes the content of the boxes to be bribe money, so they steal the boxes and escape, under the vigilance of Ennis, who silently follows them.

Eve and Elean enter the Gandor’s headquarters, where Tic is furbishing his new set of scissors. Luck, Keith and Berga appear, and Eve explains the reason of her coming which doesn’t really fill the Gandors with enthusiasm. However, there is not much time for explanations: Gustavo Runorata is already in front of the door, forcing his way in. The other Gandors start playing cards and feign ignorance, while Eve and Elean are hiding. But Eve cannot keep her temper in front of the Runorata’s accusation, giving Gustavo a reason to shoot the Gandors down. But of course, they revive, much to the mortals’ surprise, and kick their counterparts’ asses, of course. Doesn’t seem like they are going to kill Gustavo though, I wonder why, it would be a direct hit to the opposing mafia organization, and they could expand their territory… Oh well, I’m no mafia boss, so I don’t know.

Back to that once kissing scene with Nice and Jacuzzi. This time we follow Nick and Nice, who risk a look on the roof of the cars. They see Chane standing on top of a wagon, knife in hand. Chane on her side is somehow communicating (through telepathy?) with her father, Huey Laforet, who asks her if she knows the true intentions of the Lemures. She knows that they are only using her as a tool which they will dispose of as soon as she is of no use anymore. Their affiliation to Huey also is only a pretense to get their hands on his secret to become immortal. By the way, Chane is not immortal – but she still manages to stay alive quite well. Because Ladd is underway, and totally hot to kill Chane but he will not succeed, as she repels even gun bullets with her knifes. The fight goes to the back of the train, while Nice and Nick are speechless. They’re not in safety though, because in that moment a black-clothed guy orders them to climb down and probably will take them hostage.

Isaac and Miria are heavily disappointed that their haul only consists of two bottles that even are not filled with alcohol. Nevertheless, they decide to bug the Martillo family this time. Dressed as religious father and sister, our jokers make their way into the restaurant close to the Martillos’ HQ, always followed by Ennis. They try to be as unsuspicious as possible, but for some reason… they are highly suspicious. At least to me, okay ._.
Either way, they investigate through the restaurant and find a dark restricted area, but are already caught by the *gulp* cuuuuuuuuuuuute waitress in her china dress… aww, I want to be caught like that as well :3 pafu pafu pafu

But, if you remember Firo’s welcoming ceremony to the Martillo family, yeah right, the leader fires a shot to the roof… And Isaac is hit. At least Miria thinks so and cries out loud. In reality, it’s only Isaac’s hat which got 2 extra holes. Which nullifies my theory that Isaac got the elixir like that, because I had thought he would be dying and Maiza would confection some elixir just for Isaac. Oh well, at least I tried XD
Still, alarmed, the cute waitress goes downstairs to call on Maiza, and he and Firo run up to check upon the situation. And they remember clearly Isaac and Miria from their short encounter in front of the hat shop. What will happen next? Hah, gotta be patient like Ennis. Or just watch the next episode!

Hmm, there ain’t a lot which I could say about this episode, only that the many events that seemed so scattered at the beginning now are being linked together, the puzzle is slowly but surely nearing its completion. I am just eager to know what the final pieces eventually will be. I absolutely have no clue what it could be, and it is precisely this unpredictability which makes it all the more interesting. …Thank you Mr. Obvious!

One of the things I could imagine is, I think I do know who the Immortal(s) is/are who Czeslaw is searching for… namely, Isaac (and perhaps also Miria). Why? Well, because I think Isaac is an Immortal (or at least invulnerable). That one event from episode one where Isaac’s ear is sliced by a spear is what leads me to think this way. I do wonder though when exactly that event took place, before or after the journey on the FPF. Thinking twice about it, I think it is after the journey, because Nice and Jacuzzi are present as well, as far as I can remember from ep 1, and the two duos didn’t knew each other before.
Then again I might be wrong about this, and it was someone else who was immortal in the dining car. But I can’t imagine anyone else besides Isaac.

What else… Oh yeah, the end of the journey of the Flying Pussyfoot! In the beginning of the series, we see the police/FBI investigating on what has happened on the train, Ladd Russo waving with his bloody arm bone, Chane drifting away on a box in the water, we also hear that almost the whole train had to be replaced. Well, Czeslaw might have let his explosives blow up the train, but… What about the rest? And all the stuff around Dallas Genoard? Rawr…

(only a note on the Ayu subs, 16:06 is koe (voice), not koi (love) — “To protect the knowledge I obtained from you, I lost my voice” XD now that I was looking for nice screenshots, I came across that passage which reminded me that that sentence did not make any sense to me the first time already. I’m too nitpicky I know. ONLY BECAUSE OF THAT I WANT A V2 ZOMG!111one j/k you guys rock)
