WE’RE FASTER NOW!! (but still way behind the others)

So, Luxembourg apparently has received a massive internet speeds upgrade yesterday.

1 Mbit » 2 Mbit down, 128 Kbit » 256 Kbit up
2 Mbit » 8 Mbit down, 192 Kbit » 384 Kbit up
3 Mbit » 15 Mbit down, 192 Kbit » 512 Kbit up (requires ADSL2+ router)

Great news. That means, now I should be able to download with a fulll 2 Mbits at home! OMGWTFBBQ! Yes, laugh all you can, our country has long time been renowned for its slow internet speeds. Finally, a long time after the French and the Belgian started offering 30 Mbit connections, we can make good use of these decent speeds.

Well… it’s not as it matters much anyway though. 1 Mbit already were fairly sufficient for my leeching habits (although I do download a LOT), so it won’t make that much of a difference either. But still, that reduces some waiting time a bit. Oh but the double upload speed is more than welcome ^^ It’s always been a hassle uploading all sort of things at 10 KB/s… especially seeding torrents for example. Oh well. I got to see that with my own eyes at home yet. Because I’m still at dorm. For now. And there we used to have 3 Mbit, so we are supposed to have 15 Mbit now. But, if you come across my posts more often, you’ll have noticed that the “admin” that manages the proxy server here at dorm is a real piece of… *cough*. Let’s just say, he sucks. Period.

Look. Yesterday was the 1st of May, everyone had their day off, except a few of us youngsters staying to study for our upcoming finals. As always, I opened my browser to check on the incredibly high popularity (sic) of my blog (thanks again everyone!), and other random things, and yeah. Nothing. Of course, because for the upgrade to take effect, you need to restart the router. The ISPs sent out plenty of E-Mails a few weeks in advance to warn people about this (and also to advise to buy ADSL2+ routers to those who will get 15 Mbit). And yesterday, what happened? The router couldn’t be restarted. Pff. I’m really that addicted to internet but this was really lame, knowing that we could have faster speeds now but couldn’t profit them, because some idiot admin thought nothing would change, despite the warning and advice.

Heck, he was even dead surprised when I told him that internet speeds have been upgraded. “Oh, that’s why I had to restart everything, because Internet didn’t work”. Internet, serious business. But that’s not all, then I told him that since we previously had 3 Mbit we would get 15 Mbit now- we still have only 3 Mbit here at dorm. Why, I wonder… OF COURSE. The router doesn’t support ADSL2+, there we go. Tell that to an idiot admin and you’ll soon know where you’re standing. Jesus, he went crazy about that, saying, “That router is brand new and now I can throw it away? No wai, impossible, etc. I reminded him of the internet issues we were having as well here, most probably because of the said router, and then yeah. Maybe he’ll arrive with a new router tomorrow, huh. Or he might waste the dorm budget big time by calling the IT specialists again ^^ Either way that’s ludicrous.

I just hope he doesn’t read this. It’s not like I’m directly letting him know what I think about his professional skills either… XD

Finally, and that’s the last news for today, I watched Claymore Ep 2 and GSD 28 yesterday, and nearly finished my Claymore post that I made in a hurry, it should follow tomorrow. And GSD, I felt like I climaxed yesterday. Kidding, I just drooled. Gotta study Philosophy now (one of the most useless and boring subjects…) Read ya tomorrow~~
